Asura Hosting usually tops search results for cheap web hosting, and it is indeed cheap, but not so reliable.

Their servers frequently have issues (downtime or slow loading), which is typical for super cheap hosting services. They pack the servers like a can of sardine so they can sell hosting plans for dirt cheap.

You get what you pay for though. If you want better performance and support service, you gotta pay a little more. I’ve moved on and used other providers, so I’m just sharing a few better options I’ve found.

Shock Hosting is my #1 pick for an alternative to Asura Hosting. It’s not as cheap, but affordable. Their servers perform better and rarely experience any downtime. Their support is also more professional and know what they’re talking about. They have shared, reseller, and VPS hosting.

Limitless Hosting is another good alternative with decent servers and support. Their prices are reasonable and they don’t hike up your renewal rate. The only drawback is that storage space is more limited than Shock Hosting, but if you don’t need a lot of storage, it’s a good choice.

Hostinger is another alternative to consider. It has more fancy features like an AI website builder and assistant. It’s a little hyped up but it’s fine. Support is now mostly handled by an AI chatbot. If you care more about quick human support, the two providers above are a better choice.

Beware of Hostinger’s high renewal rates after the one-off introductory discount. They also now charge an additional fee for renewing each email account you have.
