Brixly was one of the best UK web hosts I’ve used, then the company was acquired by Enix and some things started changing. The most disappointing change was the drop in support quality. There are complaints from other customers about this too.

I’ve seen the same happen with other hosts when they get bought out by a bigger brand. If you’re not happy with it anymore, just move on…

Some of the better alternatives I’ve used are Ethernet Servers, WebGee, and HostWorld. All of these providers are based in the UK.

Ethernet Servers is the smallest of them, but their support is the best if you want a more personal experience. Ask them anything and they’ll do their best to help. Their shared hosting is good for low-traffic websites, but I wouldn’t use it for heavy workloads like ecommerce sites. If you have small WordPress sites, it’s perfect and very affordable.

WebGee is affordable too. They have more options, like premium hosting with more server resources. They have cPanel reseller hosting plans with generous limits. Support has been responsive and helpful. Nothing to complain about here.

HostWorld is a little bit more expensive, but it’s reasonable for what you get; solid performance and good support. I don’t have much to say other than it’s been an outstanding experience with this host as well.

I’ve used other hosts (on and off), but none of them offers anything more or better than these three.
