Bluehost and HostGator may look like competing web hosting providers, but behind the scenes they’re much closer than most people realize.
This isn’t another long comparison of all the cool features each company has, but I’m just gonna tell you something most reviews don’t tell you:
Bluehost and HostGator are owned by the same parent company called Newfold Digital.
This is one of the largest conglomerates in the web hosting industry. They’ve acquired hundreds of smaller brands and merged them into their ecosystem.
So, if you’re thinking of switching between the two because you’re not happy with pricing, performance, or support service, you’ll likely end up in the exact same spot. On the surface they may look like different companies, but they share much of the underlying infrastructure and support operations.
Both Bluehost and HostGator have attractive introductory offers, but their high renewal prices and upselling get exhausting in the long run.
If you want a better alternative, I’d suggest looking into VeeroTech, HostArmada, or ICDSoft. They have better support and give you free email accounts with any hosting plan.
Here’s a comparison of renewal pricing at all of these providers:
| Host | Monthly renewal | Yearly renewal | Storage | Websites |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bluehost | $15.99 | $143.88 | 10 GB | 10 |
| HostGator | $17.59 | $158.27 | 10 GB | 10 |
| VeeroTech | $9.95 | $83.58 | 25 GB | Unlimited |
| HostArmada | $12.95 | $143.40 | 15 GB | 1 |
| ICDSoft | N/A | $96 | 10 GB | 1 |
